DR. KEVIN HAM, B.Sc [Hons.], M.D.

Dr. Kevin Ham is Chairman is a medical doctor by profession and a graduate of the University of British Columbia.

In 1999, Kevin founded his first internet business, a webhosting review directory. A year later, Kevin formed the Reinvent media group of companies, and today the group has offices in Vancouver, Canada and Barbados. The group’s IP, technology and media arms work together to connect the hearts and souls of people around the world through words and visuals. Kevin is heading up several initiatives to become a dominant presence in the Web 3.0 Semantic Web, the advertising industry and local space, looking to reinvent media and reinvent lives.

A self-taught programmer, designer and businessman, Kevin has become a principal professional force in the domain name fraternity, where he enjoys the reputation as an innovative online media space leader with few equals. Through Reinvent he is leveraging new technology, ideas, human and intellectual capital to transform this direct navigation enterprise into a cutting edge, global media company. The business of Reinvent is centered on the most powerful and intelligent domain portfolio and technology platform in existence today.

In a 2007 cover story in Business 2.0 magazine, Kevin Ham is referred to as “The Man Who Owns the Internet.” The same year, Kevin was proclaimed “Domainer of the Year” by industry association T.R.A.F.F.I.C. He most recently received the “Industry Achievement Award” at the DomainFest 2008 Conference in recognition of his leadership in the monetization of premium domain names and portfolios

COLIN YU, B.A.
Chief Operating Officer
Co-founder of the Reinvent media group


Colin Yu is Chief Operating Officer and a co-Founder of the Reinvent media group. An entrepreneur since childhood, Colin earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia in 1992.

After graduation Colin pursued a career in international banking, working with HSBC, one of the largest financial institutions in the world, with operations in over 80 countries and 10,000 offices. During his ten-year tenure with HSBC, Colin held various, increasingly senior positions in Vancouver and Hong Kong. As Project Manager for the Global Banking Systems Group, Colin was responsible for the integrity of HSBC’s global banking systems during a time when the bank was undergoing tremendous growth and change due to several large acquisitions and the demand for increasing e-commerce banking capabilities.

In 2000, Colin joined his long time friend Kevin Ham at Reinvent. Leveraging his global experience building scalable e-commerce systems, Colin has been instrumental in driving Reinvent’s tremendous growth and emergence as a leader in the Direct Navigation industry. Colin’s broad-based business knowledge and expertise will continue to be invaluable in leading Reinvent’s growth as a global Internet media business.

DR CHRIS HARTNETT, Ph.D.
Executive Director and Chief Evangelist

Dr. Christopher W. Hartnett is the Executive Director and Chief Evangelist of Reinvent. In his role on the company Board of Directors, Dr. Hartnett provides strategic guidance for all Reinvent's initiatives and its global expansion. 

A pioneer in the advanced global telecom, internet and domain name industries, in 1992 Dr. Hartnett founded USA Global Link, Inc. and later Global Online, Inc. (GOL) and the publicly traded Global Online India, Inc.  USA Global Link was an international facilities-based long distance carrier with over 5500 employees and agents, and offices in 160 countries and territories. Between 1992 and 2001, Global Link was the world’s largest provider of discount international telecommunications services and has been credited with being the first to introduce cutting edge technologies such as; International Callback, Global Calling Cards, Internet Telephony, Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) and Settlement Rate Traffic Refile services on a global basis.

Global Online, Inc. (GOL) was one of the first international web-based meta-hub portal directories on the Internet with more than 5,860 distinct websites in 1997. In 1999, Global Online India, Inc. was the largest ISP in India measured by its public market capitalization. Dr. Hartnett served as Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of these companies whose aggregate market value exceeded $2.8 billion by 2000.

According to ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers), in 1994, Dr. Hartnett was the largest private owner of Internet domain names in the world. His current portfolio contains more than 3,500 global domain names and 28,000 other premium domain names – most of which were acquired between 1992 and 1996, long before the potential of the Internet was realized. Dr. Hartnett currently resides in the United States with his family and serves on numerous corporate and philanthropic boards.

PETER DOUGLAS, B.B.A. [Hons], C.A.
Director

Peter Douglas brings a vast wealth of finance knowledge and technology industry expertise to his role as Director. Throughout the past 20 years, Peter has been a driving force behind the successful evolution of companies including ATI International and CIBC, and is a former partner with KPMG. With a broad range of experience in Barbados, Canada and the Eastern Caribbean, Peter's international focus and wide ranging contacts provide an excellent foundation for understanding what it takes to compete and lead in the global marketplace.

Most recently, Peter was General Manager of ATI International SRL, a Barbados-based subsidiary of ATI Technologies Inc., a leading designer and manufacturer of innovative visual processor solutions. Peter holds a BA Honors in Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business Administration at the University of Western Ontario and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario (Canada) and Barbados.

BRIAN CANNON, B.A., C.A.
Chief Financial Officer

Brian Cannon is the Chief Financial Officer of the Reinvent media group. Brian has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia, and is a certified Chartered Accountant.

Through a background of more than 17 years’ financial and operations management inside rapidly growing companies, Brian has developed a keen understanding of the challenges facing emerging technology enterprises. As Reinvent’s CFO he has been instrumental in managing corporate finance, building relationships with investment banks, evaluating potential acquisitions and integrating the operations and systems of new acquisitions.

During Brian’s eight-year tenure at Crystal Decisions (now Business Objects, an SAP company), during which he served as Vice- President of Sales Operations and Vice-President of Finance and Administration, the company was one of the fastest growing software companies in the world. In 2003, he managed the successful integration of sales operations when Crystal Decisions was acquired in a $1.2 billion deal.

Prior to joining Reinvent in 2007, Brian was Chief Operating Officer for a healthcare organization, piloting innovative cancer care treatments in British Columbia.

CHRIS JENSEN, B.Sc
Chief Business Officer

Chris Jensen is Chief Business Officer at Reinvent. Chris holds a Bachelor of Science degree (Hons. Economics) from the University of London, UK.

During an almost 25-year career in corporate business Chris has held a number of senior positions at leading global financial services and biotechnology companies including Halifax Bank of Scotland and Thorn EMI. In 2005, he co-founded Time Search Inc., a Vancouver-based software company that successfully developed a product, Calgoo, to enhance the online Google calendar.

With a passion for incubating new business ideas, Chris contributes excellent logistical and interpersonal skills to Reinvent, and has been instrumental in developing the company’s strategic corporate positioning and in the ongoing structuring of customer and partner relations. Since joining the management group in 2007, he has been counted upon for his sound understanding of current business issues relevant to Reinvent’s unique industry sector, along with his invaluable grasp of organizational requirements at a time of expansion for the company.

CONOR SHANKEY
Chief Technology Officer

Conor Shankey is Chief Technology Officer at Reinvent. Like many other successful entrepreneurs, he left his senior university year while pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree (Honours Mathematics and Physics) from Simon Fraser University, to eventually start his own company, Visual Knowledge® Software, Inc. Conor is certified through the Project Management Institute.

In 1990, Conor founded Visual Knowledge® Software, Inc., a semantic technology company that became recognized as world leader in the emerging Web 3.0 space – a space that will define the future of the Internet. This technology platform, Visual Knowledge®, is a “Web 3.0” application development environment and a world leading semantic database, which is capable of inferencing, reasoning and supporting very large scale ontologies.

Conor is an accomplished software engineer, and was responsible for developing and implementing the largest WAN network and Intranet in North America. In 1991, he was awarded a substantial $8M contract with a large power utility company, BC Hydro, to replace the organization’s mainframe systems with an innovative enterprise information system.

Since joining Reinvent when the company acquired Visual Knowledge® Software in 2007, Conor has been integrating the semantic platform into Reinvent’s core business operations.

Conor has been the guest speaker at a number of national and international workshops and conferences. He is on the board of several IT and biotech companies and has previously helped in the founding, financing and acquisition of several companies.

SHURLAND FORDE
Financial Controller and Office Manager (Barbados)

Shurland Forde is the Financial Controller and Office Manager for the Reinvent media group’s Barbados operations.  Shurland has proven experience improving the accounting and administrative processes of rapidly growing companies, and as Reinvent’s Financial Controller, Shurland is responsible for overseeing the group’s financial processes and reporting, as well as maintaining key banking relationships.

Prior to joining Reinvent, Shurland was responsible for all Finance, Human Resources, and Operations functions at Guardsman Barbados Ltd.
